Marie Henderson, Interfaith Works

Interfaith Works is a social service agency based in Montgomery County, Maryland that engages the area’s faith communities to meet the needs of the poor.  The organization operates homeless shelters and clothing centers; provides programs such as  job training and substance abuse counseling; and advocates for vulnerable communities, amongst other activities.

In this interview, Executive Director Marie Henderson speaks about how, in the context of an uncertain economic climate, it is especially valuable for young people to engage in service and understand the roots of poverty; and why the community as a whole benefits when diverse groups serve together.
